Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.

About the role

As an Events and Outreach Volunteer, you’ll help raise awareness of Aquarius and its gambling services across the West Midlands and West Mercia. You’ll support the team at health and wellbeing events, educational and awareness events, and in local communities, helping people understand the support available to those affected by gambling.

You’ll have the opportunity to meet and engage with members of the public, young people and professionals, providing information, offering brief interventions and signposting people to appropriate support. You’ll also work alongside the Outreach Team and act as an ambassador for Aquarius and its gambling services.

Key duties

  • Research, plan and attend community, health and wellbeing, and awareness events.
  • Help promote Aquarius and its gambling services.
  • Support the Outreach Team with activities in the community.
  • Talk to members of the public, young people and professionals about gambling support.
  • Provide brief intervention information and signpost people to appropriate services.
  • Network with local organisations, professionals and community groups.
  • Co-facilitate events and activities.
  • Complete questionnaires and gather relevant information.
  • Act as a positive ambassador for Aquarius and its gambling services.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is friendly, approachable, patient and understanding, with a non-judgemental attitude and a genuine interest in supporting people affected by gambling.

You’ll be confident communicating with a wide range of people, including members of the public, young people and professionals. You’ll need to be organised and reliable, with the confidence to start conversations and represent Aquarius positively at events and in the community.

You’ll also need to be able to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries, demonstrate good self-awareness and recognise the importance of diversity and inclusion. We’re looking for someone who can use their own initiative while knowing when to ask for help, and who is open to advice, guidance and feedback from the team. Lived experience, either personally or as a family member, is welcomed but is not essential.

What We Offer

We value the people who make a difference every day. Alongside meaningful work, you’ll enjoy:

  • Discounts from various schemes
