We are looking for a friendly, reliable and safety‑focused Patient Transport Driver to provide a high-quality, flexible, patient-centred transport service on an as and when needed basis.
The main purpose of this role is to safely transport patients with varying mobilities between their homes and our sites at Little Common Lane and Ecclesall Road South, as well as other venues as required.
You will support people with a wide range of needs—this may include assisting patients into/out of vehicles, supporting moving and handling, and safely transporting patients who may use manual or powered wheelchairs, mobility aids, or oxygen.
Patient safety, dignity and comfort are central to this role. You may transport patients on your own or alongside a clinical colleague depending on individual need.
What We’re Looking For
We’d love to hear from you if you are:
A safe, confident and courteous driver with a current valid driving licence that allows you to drive a minibus (minibus experience desirable)
Calm and compassionate, with a genuine commitment to supporting people with complex needs
Comfortable working flexibly and responding to changing transport requirements
Able to support patients with mobility needs, using appropriate moving & handling approaches and / or a willingness to learn
Confident communicating with patients, carers and clinical colleagues
Organised and accurate in completing records and reporting concerns promptly
Committed to confidentiality, safety, dignity and person-centred care
You will also need:
Willingness to complete/maintain mandatory training
Understanding of health & safety responsibilities and safe working practices
Ability to maintain high standards of vehicle cleanliness and equipment readiness
Desirable (or willingness to work towards):
MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) or equivalent
Experience transporting patients/clients in health, social care or community settings
