PURPOSE: South Kingstown School District is looking to hire a 0.5 FTE Construction Technology or Carpentry CTE teacher to support the Construction Technology – Carpentry CTE Program, which is in place and growing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
South Kingston High School continues to increase its Construction Training Classes. We are in need of additional personnel to work with our students. The position will begin as part-time and we hope to turn it into full-time in the Future. Benefits are included.

We have the systems and additional training in place to assist you with Teaching Credentials. While a bachelor’s degree is preferred, we place a very high credential in your industry work experience if you have spent a minimum of 5 years working in your area of expertise.

This is a Part-time position (.5) FTE

Essential Attributes:

- Be able to present lessons with a clear and logical structure.

- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to instruct and work with high school students

- Ability to collaborate with colleagues to develop curricula within the guidelines of the NECTF, lesson plans, deliver instruction, and lead project-based learning in construction.

- Willingness to attend Professional Development activities outside of the standard teaching assignment

- Ability to ensure student relevance to the curriculum as it relates to both subject matter and industry standards

- Willingness and ability to develop and maintain industry contacts

Responsibilities:
1. Willingness to earn the appropriate RI certification for building construction trades or carpentry.
2. Relevant credentials.
3. Relevant successful experience.
4. Support a vision that reflects an ALL STUDENTS classroom program.
5. Adhere to the R.I. Educator Code of Professional Responsibility, i.e., follow a code of ethics, which you can learn about
6. Promote and facilitate Professional Learning Community Goals.
7. Implement standards as appropriate
8. Ability to work with colleagues, parents, students, and administrators.
9. Ability to know and utilize technology in the teaching and learning process.
10. Some knowledge of the best practices of engineering
11. Some knowledge of best practices of architecture
12. Technology standards, technology integration, project-based, and applied learning.
13. Possess the ability to teach, or is willing to be trained in, other areas of technology such as Robotics, PLTW Engineering, or CAD/Architectural drawing.
14. Knowledge of how to teach material to students, and a willingness to understand how curriculum, standards, grade level/span expectations, and performance assessments play a role in that.
15. Support the implementation of new high school initiatives.
16. Support the co-teaching model.
17. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
18. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
19. Positive attitude.
20. Successful interview.

●Teach Construction Technology courses.
●Base all course development and proficiency on the R.I. Standards and the statements of Enduring Knowledge.
●Demonstrate knowledge and experience with Technology integration, project-based and applied learning.
●Participate in professional development opportunities.
●Have experience teaching, even if in a place of work
●Have experience in designing authentic learning experiences for students to learn core 21st Century skills.
●At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
● Bachelor's degree preferred
●Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
In addition, the position necessitates:
●Industrial work experience in the field of general construction and/or carpentry. Applicant must have a basic knowledge of all areas of construction.
●As this is a growing program, the applicant will have a major contribution toward directing its growth.
●Openness and responsiveness to feedback
●Demonstrate exemplary oral and written communication and listening skills.
●Evidence of supporting a vision that reflects ALL STUDENTS
